  • ACKNOWLEDGEMENT STAMPS

An acknowledgement is a notarial act in which a Notary certifies having positively identified a document signer who personally appeared and who admitted having signed the document freely. An acknowledgement proves the document signers authenticity by showing that the acknowledging party personally appeared before the office (notary) taking the acknowledgement. Steps to Perform and Acknowledgement The signer personally appears before the notary. The Notary scans the document to make sure there are no blank spaces. The Notary positively identifies the signer. The Notary asks the signer to acknowledge executing the document and sign the document if it has not been signed. The Notary completes certificate wording for an acknowledgement and affixes the official signature and seal.
  • JURAT STAMPS

A jurat certifies that the Notary Public: •That the signer personally appeared before the notary at the date and time of the notarization •The signer was positively identified •The signer signed the document in the presence of the notary public who witnessed the signing at the time of the notarization •The Notary Public administered the oath or affirmation Although there is not specific wording for the oath or affirmation, examples are as follows: For an Oath: Do you swear under the penalties of perjury, that the information contained in this document is the truth, so help you God?” For an Affirmation: “Do you affirm under the penalties of perjury, that the information contained in this document is the truth?” The signer will reply “Yes.” The notary will then complete the notarial act by filling out the jurat (his/her notarial certificate), then signing and sealing the jurat. • VENUE STAMPS

A Venue indicates the state and the county where a notary is actually performing the transaction. The definition of Venue is: "The clause in an affidavit naming the locality where it was made and sworn to". Every Notarial Act must designate where the notary is physically located at the time the notarization is performed. This is called a "venue". It usually reads as follows: State of ___________ County of _________ For a notarial act to be considered complete and valid, the notarization must include the venue. Since the Venue is a required component of a notarial act, the Venue Stamp often comes in handy when documents are missing a venue section. It is important to note that no one except the notary may complete the venue section of a document otherwise the document could be viewed as invalid.
