JURAT STAMPS

A jurat certifies that the Notary Public: •That the signer personally appeared before the notary at the date and time of the notarization •The signer was positively identified •The signer signed the document in the presence of the notary public who witnessed the signing at the time of the notarization •The Notary Public administered the oath or affirmation Although there is not specific wording for the oath or affirmation, examples are as follows: For an Oath: Do you swear under the penalties of perjury, that the information contained in this document is the truth, so help you God?” For an Affirmation: “Do you affirm under the penalties of perjury, that the information contained in this document is the truth?” The signer will reply “Yes.” The notary will then complete the notarial act by filling out the jurat (his/her notarial certificate), then signing and sealing the jurat.
